Chefs for Obama/Runway to Win – Come Support!

Oh my! It’s been awhile since I have had an opportunity to update you guys on all the community events and interesting projects I have immersed myself in!

Well, today is a special day. I was asked to model in a runway show that supports our president! “Runway to Win” will take place today during the Chefs for Obama event at the Moore Building in the Design District. Fifteen well respected chefs are volunteering their time to create tapas and treats for the crowd! Wine will be served and we will be treated to the sounds of a live jazz band and tunes by DJ Irie. Supa Cindy, myself and others will be modeling tshirts designed by celebrities in support of President Obama. We need your help. We literally CANNOT afford to allow Mitt Romney to win!

Would you like to attend and support our President’s victory fund? General admission is $250.00 and VIP admission is $1,000 per person – (this includes private cooking demonstration and photo opportunity with DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz)

New family!

Pleased to let you know that I was asked to join the MOCradio Network family as a co-host on “The Street Corner” show every Tuesday from 8-10pm with Redbeard AKA “Mr. Flynt” along with his cohost DJ Ben Hop! I will try to add to their already winning formula by talking about health, food, sex, relationships, etc. This week we had dialogue about why we see less and less artists using brown skinned women in their videos. Join the discussion next week!

I hope you tune in! Spread the word…

Namaste,

I’m baaaaack (at MOCRadio.com that is!)

Last night was beyond fun! I felt like I was truly one of the guys hosting on #TheStreetCorner at MOCRadio.com. I was honored to be a guest co-host to Redbeard (@7FigureEnt) and DJ Ben Hop (@DjBenHop.) We covered every topic from me being a Vegan to sex and spiritual connections with your partner. I enjoyed every second on air with the guys and I look forward to coming in more often and spreading knowledge to the hip hop community about all things natural. Make sure you tune in to MOCRadio.com…You surely won’t regret it!

Team Coke Bottle…An Ahseiat-InoR Movement

A lovely woman named Taiesha who I met in highschool has partnered with her friend Roni and have started a wonderful group called Team Coke Bottle…

#TeamCokeBottle is for women of ALL shapes and sizes! While most women do not have ‘hourglass’ figures, it is still important to be healthy no matter what size you are. Healthy is the new Sexy!!

The mission and purpose behind #TeamCokeBottle is to keep a running dialect about women’s health and how to lead/maintain a healthy lifestyle. This is acheived by sharing workout regimens, recipes, weight loss goals/results, discussing health concerns and more via social networking sites (ie. Facebook, Twitter, etc.) We encourage you to Share, Share, Share and don’t forget to add the hash tag (#TeamCokeBottle!)

Since staying active plays such a major role in one’s overall physical appearance, we host walking events, workout videos, and alternative fitness classes (ie. Zumba, Yoga, dance, etc.) So join us as we bend, stretch, squat, crunch, and dance our way into healthy living.

I represent Team Coke Bottle, not for my shape…but for my dedication to living a healthy lifestyle! Props to the ladies for starting a movement!

Lila Nikole Swimwear Invades Vegas

Partyyyy time! I could write more about this trip but I think it’s better described in pictures. All I will say is thanks to the Exquisite Music and Fashion Festival crew! We had limo service everywhere and were treated like Queens. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas… Thanks to Lila Nikole and my beautiful roommate Anchal Joseph who kept me laughing the entire trip!

The B-Side Lounge with Ingrid B and Mark G

Last night was hilarious. If you missed The B-Side Lounge, I was honored to be a special guest for their “Addicted to My Grind” segment. The soulful, honest dialogue was amazing. Their radio show has the best music around. From poetry to Raheem Devaughn, it was enough to keep you in a mellow mood but will still give you enough energy to keep the sexy party going. If you love underground hip hop or soul music and want to learn about independent artists, this is the place to log into. Ingrid B is witty and very organic in her message. A beautiful soul, she carries the dialogue well and Mark G. is the perfect man to complememt to her humor and balance out all the estrogen! Every Sunday night from 8-10 tune into to MOCradio.com and look for “The B-Side Lounge”

James Jones and his “Camp for Champs”

Completed vision boards!

By far one of the most beautiful events I participated in this summer was “Camp for Champs” run by our very own Miami Heat NBA Champion James Jones. This camp was designed for foster care youth through the Department of Children and Families and was held on FIU’s campus. The camp focuses on life skills as well as outdoor activities like basketball, kayaking, caring for horses, YOU NAME IT!

Outdoor fun!

Walking into that room filled with wide eyed, brilliant and hopeful youth made my heart swell with love. I was so anxious to speak love and positivity into their worlds. The girls I spoke to were magnificent souls that opened their ears to hear me tell them that every dream they have for their future can indeed come true with positive affirmations and hard work.

Working with children is always a rewarding experience, but working with children who may not even have the basic need of parental LOVE fulfilled in their lives makes the experience more crucial and special to me. You never know what foster children have had to endure. We are never quite sure of what they may have missed out on in their most formative years. All you can be sure of is that your presence as a role model is valuable and that you don’t want to blow your chance at making a difference in one of their lives.

I loved every minute of it and hope that the young ladies I had the privilege of speaking with enjoyed putting together their very own vision boards. Hopefully they wake up every day and look at those boards inspired to work toward their goals. So many beautiful souls to reach, so little time.
Thanks to Shawn McCullough (@ShawnboyUSA the “marketing maniac”) for inviting me to be a speaker at this marvelous camp. Thanks to James Jones for putting together such a marvelous opportunity for these awesome children. Thanks to AJ Shorter for the awesome photography. Follow him at @AJ2Photography on Twitter.

Each one teach one!

Legacy Magazine’s “40 Under 40 Black Leaders of Today and Tomorrow 2012″

Cover Photo

Hi everyone!

A few months ago I was informed that I was chosen as one of South Florida’s 40 Under 40 Leaders for Legacy Magazine! I was extremely excited and honored to be chosen for such a prestigious award. There are so many inspirational people in the group chosen that I can only imagine the wealth of knowledge and experience each one is bringing to the table.

The Miami Herald business Monday section featured photos of the honorees:

The luncheon honoring all the wonderful leaders will take place this Friday and there is a networking event Friday afternoon!

I hope to continue to make my family and my community proud. There is much work to be done in our world and I hope that this honor inspires people that doing what you love is the definition of living life to the fullest! Pick a cause, get involved and go for it!

Mercedes Benz Swim Week Events!

Miami!

The long awaited swim shows were upon us this past week all around South Beach. If you were as fortunate as I was, you were treated to the sights of slim models walking the prestigious runways for well known designers mixed with the house beats and sounds of both local and national DJs.

I partnered with Planet Pit to bring coverage to my dear friend Lila Nikole’s new Electrika swimwear collection debut at Bamboo Nightclub Friday night. It was simply stated: AMAZING. The stage at Bamboo does things I cant really explain and her entire collection is just waiting to join her other suits in my closet and on my body at the beach.

ALUNA SWIMWEAR POOL PARTY

On Saturday I attended Aluna Swimwear’s event and it was definitely a party enjoyed by all! I did a few interviews and got to preview her new Argan line and it was quite amazing. The models were sexy and so was the vibe of the party. Many celebs were in attendance and the poolside fashion show had men’s eyeballs popping out!
