#Live_Vivacious!

Part of the #Vivacious Team! So beautiful!

It’s not easy being a woman. It is especially not easy being a woman of integrity and substance in an area full of glorification for exactly the opposite. Where fake has become the new real and support/true loyalty are hard to find, it’s rare to find a group of women who stand in solidarity for true WOMANHOOD. This group isn’t about who has the latest red bottoms or designer purse (not that they are against these things, they just don’t flaunt material wealth) and they certainly wouldn’t DARE call another woman a “bad bitch.” Instead, this group promotes other entrepreneurial women that are trying to make a positive impact on society.
What I love about the Vivacious team are the women that started the movement. They’re feisty and professional. These strong women also seem to have a firm grasp on the kind of difference they want to make in society. Charitable donations will be made through the sale of the items on their site soon and women everywhere can be fashionable for a cause. A few local models, actresses and hosts have all jumped on board to give their time/face/voice to Vivacious by modeling apparel, sunglasses and swimwear on their website. I was honored to have been chosen to represent such a positive movement. The proceeds from the sale of the vintage sunglasses I modeled will directly benefit my charity and passion (Project Save Imagination, of course.)
Owning your sexuality is beeeeautiful, natural and powerful…..making your sexuality the ONLY thing you have going for you is not quite as powerful. Women are amazing. We are the bearers of life. We withstand unimaginable pain. Our power lies in our amazing femininity. Imagine that incredible feminine power combined and the amazing impact we could make on society?

It’s a movement. #LiveVivacious

Music Needs George Tandy Jr.

I have always been a diehard 90s R&B fan…(think Jodeci before the drugs and R Kelly before we knew he loved teenagers….) I loved Shai and Tevin Campbell, Silkk and LSG, Keith Sweat and Troop, Dru Hill and Aaron Hall. THAT was my era for music. Even though I was a kid and NOT supposed to be listening to some of that, when the “I wanna freak you” line comes on I squeal like a virginal teen.

Lately however, I have been less than thrilled with the current R&B situation out there and have gone back to my underground hip hop loving ways. You can’t go wrong listening to NWA, Mos Def, Kweli and MURS when all else is wrong with the world. Besides, I was less than convinced that honest love making music even still existed. Where was the panty dropping, basement sweating, grinding, hide and go get it music of my youth? Well a few months ago I found it. The glimmer of hope for me was in the brilliant music of local south Floridian George Tandy Jr.

I admit, I’m a tough critic…I rarely give new music a shot. I’m the one that takes the CDs people hand me in the streets and let them pile in the backseat of my car (or use them as drink coasters.) But what sold me on George was that I saw him perform LIVE. The honesty and love in his lyrics literally ooze out of every inch of his beautiful being, his talent on the keyboard matched with the silkiness of his voice brought back my memories of hide and go get it, and the passion in which he emits each note lets you know it’s REAL. Once I got to know him as a person I was even more sold on his mission to heal the world through his music and so the journey began. He’s an enlightened human and a beautiful soul.

Lucky me…I have had the pleasure of hearing all his new music. I swear if I didn’t love you all so much I would keep it to myself and cuddle with it at night. It would be a lie if I told you I didn’t listen to his ultra passionate and VERY sexy tune, “March” about 350 times in two days….literally. “Jaded” is another favorite and “Apologize” is acoustic sounding and make up sex worthy. And ladies, his LOOKS match his SOUND. Nuff said.
Oh, and he’s newly VEGAN. Sexy.

All I can tell you is he has a brand new website and is slowly uploading all his new music onto the site. You better hop on quickly, because this bandwagon is sure to fill up fast.

Warning: Ladies, listen to his music and make sure you have a dry pair of panties lying close by for you to change into. Fellas, listen to it with your lady so he can say all the right things for you to get her in the mood. Ya dig? You’re welcome.

Sexy Time by Kevin Cossom

Mmmmmmmmm! Easily the sexiest video I have ever had the pleasure of appearing in. Singer/songwriter Kevin Cossom released his brand new song, “Sexy Time” today (Valentine’s Day!) The video is artistically put together focusing in on sultry, slow motion movements filmed in black and white.

Press Play:

Rap-Up.com writes:

“Kevin Cossom provides the soundtrack for the bedroom this Valentine’s Day with the seductive video for his new song “Sexy Time.” The R&B singer-songwriter, who is signed to Danja’s N.A.R.S. label, makes love to his lady in the black-and-white clip, which features plenty of skin and steamy action.

The baby-making jam, written by Kevin and produced by The Lottery, will appear on an upcoming project from Kevin.

Aside from his own music, Kevin has lent his pen to Luke James’ new single “I.O.U.,” Fabolous and Chris Brown’s “Ready,” and Kelly Rowland’s upcoming album Talk a Good Game.”

Somebody Loves You

Somebody Loves You

Back in September I had the pleasure of traveling to Philly to film the video for “Somebody Loves You” by Dice Raw, featuring Raheem Devaughn. I was the lead actress and this beautifully filmed black and white video tells a story that many women are unfortunately all too familiar with. I hope you enjoy! Support real music! Support music that UPLIFTS women!

Mercedes Benz Swim Week Events!

Miami!

The long awaited swim shows were upon us this past week all around South Beach. If you were as fortunate as I was, you were treated to the sights of slim models walking the prestigious runways for well known designers mixed with the house beats and sounds of both local and national DJs.

I partnered with Planet Pit to bring coverage to my dear friend Lila Nikole’s new Electrika swimwear collection debut at Bamboo Nightclub Friday night. It was simply stated: AMAZING. The stage at Bamboo does things I cant really explain and her entire collection is just waiting to join her other suits in my closet and on my body at the beach.

ALUNA SWIMWEAR POOL PARTY

On Saturday I attended Aluna Swimwear’s event and it was definitely a party enjoyed by all! I did a few interviews and got to preview her new Argan line and it was quite amazing. The models were sexy and so was the vibe of the party. Many celebs were in attendance and the poolside fashion show had men’s eyeballs popping out!

Que Rico!!!

Hi everyone!

The team of wonderful people at PlanetPit.com (Pitbull’s website) wanted to do something different…They wanted to feature a dozen or so women for a project called “The Que Rico Project.” Wanting to break from the norm, they decided to choose women that were entertaining, doing works in the community and weren’t shy about being interviewed (basically not just women that can pose half naked.) LOL

I was recently chosen as one of the women in Miami to be featured! In fact, my feature is the first one they released on the brand new site.

I hope you can take a second to check it out and leave a comment if you feel compelled to do so. Many of the viewers only expected (and wanted to see) breasts and other body parts! Although the feedback so far has been overwhelmingly positive, a few of the people that left comments on the youtube video seemed quite confused as to why the video wasn’t more revealing. So if you have a chance and you indeed liked the content, let them know! Let’s change the culture and show people that you can’t always judge a book by it’s cover.

HUGE thank you to Teach, Supa Cindy, Derick G, Paragonn and the entire Planet Pit team for the honor!

Are You Only a Sum of Your Body Parts?

We live in an era where fake is the new real. I swear to goodness that I can barely tell the difference. Some women have gone completely overboard in the “enhancement department.” With brand new lips, hair, breasts, butts, thighs, hips, cheekbones and even VAGINAS they are beginning to look like caricatures of their orignal selves! Don’t get me wrong, I love enhancements for special occasions! I love long, gorgeous, fake eyelashes for a party probably as much as a Kardashian (wait, maybe not quite that much!) I ooh and ahhh over bright, colorful lip gloss and bronzer! Sigh. I can admit that I am an ultra feminine girly girl. When I am on a movie set, music video set or at a photo shoot there is nothing more fun than getting all glammed up. The thrill of transforming into a more dramatic version of your every day self is exciting.

Playing Barbie

But guess what?

I love that it is temporary. I love my regular face, too! I love to take the thick camera makeup off and I love to unclip the hair extentions and lay my natural curly head on a pillowcase at night. I could never be like Ice Cube’s sister from the movie “Friday” and sleep with my head in my hands for fear of messing up my weave every night! I see some women that are “in costume” so often we forget what the real them looks like. That is slightly disturbing. You can’t possibly enjoy wearing a mask all the time. Can you?

Wipe off the makeup!

I will never understand women being genuinely upset with the bodies and hair that they were born with. We CAN NOT spend our entire lives trying to look like someone else. The process is entirely self defeating. You will never be satisfied with the outside until you have leveled with your insides. Happiness does not come from external sources. Of course you may find temporary pleasure in transforming into a glamorous version of yourself, but that will never be the same as true acceptance and happiness with oneself.

Am I perfect?

No. Like every woman, at times want to change or alter certain physical characteristics. Sometime you wish your hair was thicker, your thighs were smaller, or cheekbones more defined. I even at one time went under the knife for a post breastfeeding correction. One side remained a devastatingly (at the time) FLAT C cup and the other side a fun loving, athletic and perky full A cup! Sidenote: Don’t ever exclusively breastfeed your child on one side. I don’t care how much they prefer a side. Suck, suck PASS is the name of the game. Oh the agony of a child who will scream and cry for left breast only! LOL! The stuffing socks things didn’t appeal to me neither did the Victoria Secret chicken cutlets that got sweaty (eww!) So after about two years of trying that, so I chose surgery for correction. It was my personal choice for that time in my life. I’m not addicted. I’m not poking and prodding every year so, clamoring to get fillers, bigger lips, larger cheeks, higher brows and whatever else these women are addicted to injecting every few months. The worst trend I’m seeing now is illegal butt injections! Not only are they illegal, but WTF is REALLY in them? Have there been long term studies showing what they will look like in 30 years? And the fact they are so cheap is also disturbing. Nothing good can come from cheap plastic surgery. If you are going to alter something that REALLY bothers you, make sure that you do it the SAFE way and that you aren’t doing it to fit in with a crowd or to look like Nicki Minaj. That’s scary. If you feel compelled to permanently alter your looks, make sure it’s not something emotional that is causing you to want to change something physical.

Do you REALLY need all that?

Some people are born with real deformities such as missing limbs, teeth that are impossibly crooked and hard to chew food with, children with cleft palates and other stigmatizing physical impairments that can cause a lifetime of suffering. Plastic surgery is a way for these people just to operate normally (whatever that may be) on a daily basis and for this I am thankful they now have that option. But this is not the case with most obsessive surgery patients.

What about now?

I personally am not the same woman I was in my early twenties as I am now in my late twenties. I even have completely natural nails now! I have also learned that no surgical procedure is worth your life. I will NOT trade my sleep in for extra hair extentions that flow to my butt; it is not comfortable or sane! You and I are not a sum of our body parts. This vessel is only temporary. Think of it as a test. This test is to see what good you will do in this lifetime with exactly the resources you are given. Dont obsess over perfecting something that is deteriorating from the minute you are born. Keep it healthy, keep it clean and keep your vessel running. Why? We need you in the world. There is lots of work to be done. So many people that need your talent, skill, wit and energy. Redirect that energy! Whether you were born with long straight hair, short kinky hair, tall and thin, short and round, big butt or small butt, curly hair or short…be proud that you are YOU. You are an original. There is only one you. Wear yourself proudly and keep that soul beautiful for lifetimes to come.
